It seems many things in life are that way. Infomercials, commercials, friends recommendations all of them have such hope and promise. I am one of those people that I try to assume the best of everything. All purchases new experiences etc. I am very hopeful that it is going to be wonderful. I am very often let down! I have come to realize that we are in a fallen world, and nothing here on earth are ever going to meet our expectations. Some things we can change, or make better and some we can't. We sang a song at church last night that was a wonderful hymn that really made me realize how I am not at home and I will never be satisfied until I get to my eternal home. Here are the lyrics:
- This world is not my home, I'm just passing through.
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.
- Chorus
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
If Heaven's not my home, then Lord what will I do?
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.
They're all expecting me and that's one thing I know.
My Savior pardoned me and now I onward go.
I know He'll take me through, though I am weak and poor.
- Chorus
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
If Heaven's not my home, then Lord what will I do?
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.
Just up in Glory Land we'll live eternally.
The Saints on every hand are shouting victory.
Their song of sweetest praise drifts back from Heaven's shore
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.
- Chorus
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
If Heaven's not my home, then Lord what will I do?
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.
I love when my children ask what Heaven is going to be like. That is the one thing that I know I will not be disappointed in when I get there. In no way can my imagination ever come anywhere near how wonderful Heaven will be! One of my children likes to think that there will be banana trees in Heaven. Little does she know that the bananas will be the least of her concerns. She is going to be so surprised when she gets there! I'm sure there will be her own banana tree more magnificent then she could ever imagine just for her. Maybe it will grow golden bananas. Who knows! I just know that I can rest assured that I will not be disappointed!
